Most professional chefs in the US have access to a fairly high quality selection of fresh herbs through their produce wholesalers. However basil, the most popular of herbs, is one which fares poorly under prolonged transport and storage. Typically, the product is many days old by the when it reaches the chef and the wonderful flavor and aroma are lost by the time it gets to the plate. More than one of our chefs who have grown their own basil in the past have declared that they cannot come near the quality of Green Cuisine's basil. So "do yourself a flavor" and order it from us.
We grow our basil year-round in our greenhouses and deliver it within hours of cutting. We use the most modern hydroponic growing techniques assuring that our basil has the highest oil content and the most tender leaves.
We offer Genovese Basil, which is the classical Italian basil in 4 ounce and 1 pound bags and Sweet Thai Basil in 4-ounce bags. Other varieties can be grown out by special request.
