Microgreens
Green Cuisine of Birmingham is delighted to offer the most discerning chefs the freshest living microgreens product on the market. These exquisite miniature plants are the jewels which will make your plate presentation shine and generate endless comments from your diners. Because our varieties are selected for exceptional visual and flavor characteristics this is one garnish that will not be pushed around the plate.
What are Microgreens?
Microgreens are exceptionally tender, young seedlings less than 14 days old which are used by the most selective chefs for creative garnishes or flavoring. They are specially selected for their unique flavor or color. A judicious sprinkling of microgreens on a plate adds that special “wow!” to a dish, taking it from just plain ordinary to spectacular. They can be used singly, or in combinations to add color or flavor to a dish.

How are They Packaged?
Green Cuisine’s Living Microgreens are delivered live, in special trays containing 26 cells. Each cell contains 60-100 seedlings and will provide 2-3 servings. Mixed combination trays with several varieties are available upon request.
We also offer cut microgreens in 4 oz clamshells. |

Storage & Handling
Microgreens should be stored in the box in a cooler where they will remain dormant for 5-6 days until ready to use. With a pair of shears, simply snip the quantity of greens desired. Since they have been grown indoors and have never been sprayed, a light rinsing is all that should be required prior to use. Please note that basil microgreens should be stored above 40 degrees to avoid cold damage.
Availability
Because of the delicate nature of microgreens and the extensive varieties available, we maintain limited microgreens in stock. A limited selection is available through our distributors, but by special ordering you have your choice of varieties delivered exactly when you need them. Our Living Microgreens require close coordination between the chef and the grower to select the most appropriate products for your menu needs.
Please note Some varieties such as celery, basil, dill and fennel require 18-21 days in the spring and summer and 21-35 days in the winter. Most other varieties can be provided with 2 weeks notice.
